About Us

BNY ARTS is a newly formed arts organization located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Our mission is to assemble the collective talents of the artists and artisans existing within the Navy Yard under one umbrella, and to articulate a common vision to sustain and foster an expanding community of creative talent that calls the Navy Yard "Home."

After undergoing its own social and economic transformation, from an industrial to a post-industrial park with new sound stages and a growing community of fabricators and artisans, the Navy Yard is a vibrant addition to the creative landscape of New York City. It is becoming the home port for much of the creative activity taking place in the city.

BNY ARTS is a forward thinking organization sited in Brooklyn's historic past. The Navy Yard's 300 acre site includes three dry docks, of which some are among the oldest operating ones in the U.S., as well as many architecturally noteworthy buildings.The Brooklyn Navy Yard is flanked at the east end by a pre Civil War Hospital; on the West side, an Admiral's house and several offcer quarters line Flushing Avenue.
